Sunrisers Hyderabad finally got a win under their belt as they defeated Rajasthan Royals in their own home of Hyderabad on March 29. The match was an entertaining one with Rajasthan Royals putting on a mammoth 198 runs on the board. Sunrisers Hyderabad chased down the target successfully, but not without the drama of a close finish.

Sanju Samson’s brilliant century (102*) and Rahane’s 70 were the cornerstones of RR’s amazing innings and Ben Stokes provided the finishing touches. SRH’s bowling was in tatters with Bhuvneshwar Kumar going for 55 runs in 4 overs. Only Rashid Khan impressed everyone with 1/24 in 4 overs. He was to play a big part in the SRH win later in the evening.

David Warner’s blazing 69 and Jonny Bairstow’s 45 and their opening partnership of 110 laid the foundation of SRH win, but it was Rashid Khan who made 15* with the help of a four and a six to finish the match off RR paceman Jofra Archer. Rashid with the ball might have only picked just one wicket, but that wicket was of the dangerous Jos Buttler and it set the tone for the match. When Shreyas Gopal hit back for RR during the SRH chase, the home team was reduced to 167 for 5 from 164 for 2.

But then Yusuf Pathan and Rashid put on a partnership of 34* runs to take SRH home, with Rashid doing the honors. This led to former India Test opener Aakash Chopra, who is commentating in Hindi on the ongoing IPL 2019, to lavish massive praise on the Afghanistan leggie, who was named the Man of the Match.

Chopra took to Twitter to write, “He can bowl. He can field. And he can also bat. Rashid Khan is the Most Valued T20 player in the world #SRHvRR #IPL”
