20-year old Sam Curran has landed a million dollar deal with the Kings XI Punjab. Curran has joined the franchise, who also have Windies star Chris Gayle on their books, for INR 7.2 crore after the franchise saw off competition from Royal Challengers Bangalore. The youngster has had a great 2018 which saw him playing a crucial role in the series against India with both bat and ball.
Curran, being on the fringes of the England ODI team is an outsider to make it to the ICC World Cup 2019 which makes him available for the whole of the IPL season scheduled to start in late March. He took to Twitter to express his excitement over signing for the Kings XI Punjab and expressed his gratitude to his county and managers for supporting him all the way.
He tweeted, What a year! Couldn’t be more excited to join the @lionsdenkxip at the @IPL in 2019. Thanks for the continued support from everyone @surreycricket”

The youngster plays county cricket for Surrey and has been described as one of the most talented youngsters in England. The fact that the 20-year-old English all-rounder has already shown immense promise in his brief career makes him an exciting prospect for Kings XI Punjab.
The franchise, led by Ravichandran Ashwin had a dream run in the first half of the tournament last year but a poor show in the latter half ended their hopes of claiming the title. Curran will be expected to display fireworks at the back end of the innings and also pick wickets for his franchise at regular intervals.
KXIP released as many as 11 players in the likes of Aaron Finch, Axar Patel, Mohit Sharma, and Yuvraj Singh ahead of the IPL Auction. They have also traded Marcus Stoinis for Mandeep Singh to bolster their batting department.
