IPL 2019: Twitterati is unhappy with CSK axing Faf du Plessis

One of the fans said that she loves Du Plessis' batting style and said that the cricketer will be important in tough times.

The Mumbai Indians (MI) are taking on the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai. The battle is regarded to be one of the best in the IPL and is regarded as the ‘El Classico’. However, CSK’s team selection for this game didn’t please the fans. The defending champions dropped Faf du Plessis for this encounter.

For the third consecutive game now, the South African skipper is warming the bench. He was in great form in the recent series against Sri Lanka and can also bat at number four position. Yet, he was ignored and CSK instead chose to play with just three overseas players.

The fans want Faf du Plessis in the playing eleven

CSK also had the option to open the innings with the 34-year-old as Ambati Rayudu isn’t in great form. The Super Kings made just one change for this encounter. Instead of Mitchell Santner, they roped in Mohit Sharma as the pitch assists pace and bounce.

At this very venue, Faf du Plessis played a match-winning knock last year. Against SRH in Qualifier-2, the Proteas cricketer scored an unbeaten 67 off 42 balls and single-handedly won his team the match. The fans clearly seemed dejected with this call. One of the fans said that she loves Du Plessis’ batting style and said that the cricketer will be important in tough times.

Mumbai Indians leads the head-to-head battle against Chennai Super Kings by a slight margin in the IPL. Both the teams have won the title three times each and CSK will be looking forward to catching with the head-to-head tally. However, Mumbai will want to keep their dominance going.
