Chris Gayle has been one of the most successful batsmen of IPL history. He has won the orange cap twice and his ability to clear the ground at will makes him one of the most powerful batsmen. If Chris Gayle opens the batting with Mayank Agarwal, they can utilize the Powerplay better and if one of them scores big, KXIP can finally finish with a massive score.

Also, their bowling has looked quite dependent on the one or two bowlers, and if they can add their all-rounders to the playing eleven, they can find the balance. KXIP have Jimmy Neesham and Krishnappa Gowtham in their squad as all-rounders. If KXIP follows this approach, Gayle, Pooran, Neesham and Sheldon Cottrell/Mujeeb Ur Rahman can be their four overseas players.

This Playing XI would include two all-rounders, four bowlers and five batsmen, and such a combination can provide them with the much-needed balance. Also, as several bowlers of KXIP are quite young and inexperienced, adding extra bowling options can give KL Rahul more confidence.
