Anrich Nortje has come up the ranks since the 2018 edition of the Mzansi Super League (MSL) where he represented the Cape Town Blitz. He impressed with his sheer pace, but an ankle injury cut short his campaign. But he was drafted into the South Africa team for the ODI series versus Sri Lanka.

There he picked up 8 wickets in 4 games and was then blessed with a 20-lakh deal from the Knight Riders. To his sheer misfortune, he developed a shoulder injury and couldn’t turn out in the IPL. Matthew Kelly, who has also been released by KKR, was called up as his injury replacement.

Nortje is currently plying his craft for the Blitz in the 2019 MSL and has been amongst the wickets. The Knights have retained Lockie Ferguson and now after releasing Nortje, they have to find the Kiwi pacer’s backup.
