Dale Steyn was roped in as Coulter Nile’s replacement in 2019 and the speed gun started wreaking havoc right from the outset. Before Steyn came in, the Challengers scratched their heads to find a way of picking wickets in the powerplay. The South African was like an ointment to RCB’s wounds.

Both against KKR and the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Steyn notched wickets during field restrictions. But a shoulder injury cut his campaign short after two games. It also ruled him out of the 2019 World Cup. Back in August, Steyn retiring from Test cricket, expressing his desire to prolong his List A and T20 career.

The veteran has set his eyes on the T20 World Cup and has looked in great shape for the Cape Town Blitz in the Mzansi Super League. RCB could have given releasing Steyn a second thought.
