Former Indian cricketer Ajit Agarkar named his best XI of the 2020 Indian Premier League (IPL). As the openers, he went for David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan. Warner, yet another time, turned out to a stalwart for the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), both as a skipper and a top-order batsman.

Dhawan, on the other, was second on the list of Orange Cap holder after Kings XI Punjab’s (KXIP) KL Rahul. Dhawan also became the first batsman with back to back centuries in the history of the T20 tournament. He started the event with a few slow knocks, but then found his rhythm.

At number three, Agarkar picked Ishan Kishan, who was impressive for the Mumbai Indians (MI), both at the top and in the middle-order. Agarkar didn’t go for Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) Virat Kohli. Agarkar made the revelations in a video posted by Star Sports on their YouTube channel.

At number four, he went for Suryakumar Yadav, who played some useful cameos in the middle-order for the Mumbai-based franchise. Many also reckon that he should have played for India by now. Along with Surya, Agarkar picked up AB de Villiers, who had a decent time for the Challengers, who bowed out of the 2020 IPL after a defeat in the Eliminator at the hands of the Sunrisers.

Hardik Pandya was Agarkar’s pick for the sixth slot. Agarkar zeroed in on Marcus Stoinis as his only specialist all-rounder. Stoinis picked up wickets and also scored three half-centuries. He was also used as an opener in the playoffs and final. As his fast bowlers, Agarkar went for Kagiso Rabada and Jasprit Bumrah. Rabada ended as the Purple Cap holder with as many as 29 wickets.

Bumrah, on the other hand, got 27 wickets and was arguably the standout bowler for the Mumbai team. Agarkar picked up Yuzvendra Chahal and Varun Chakravarthy as his specialist spinners. Chahal was the leading wicket-taker for the Challengers. Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) Varun was the only bowler to pick up a five-wicket haul that he took against the Capitals in Abu Dhabi.

Here’s the XI:

David Warner, Shikhar Dhawan, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, AB de Villiers, Hardik Pandya, Marcus Stoinis, Kagiso Rabada, Jasprit Bumrah, Yuzvendra Chahal, Varun Chakravarthy
