Sunrisers Hyderabad edged past Royal Challengers Bangalore to knock them out of IPL 2020 during the Eliminator match. Jason Holder’s opening spell followed by some tight bowling helped Sunrisers to contain the RCB batters. However, a 43-ball 56 from AB de Villiers got Bangalore to finish on 131/7 at least. SRH needed only 84 from 14 overs at the end of the powerplay but some tight bowling from the leg-spinners brought the pressure of a chase. Kane Williamson scored an unbeaten 50 while batting along with Holder to clinch a thriller.

Here are all the statistical highlights from Sunrisers Hyderabad’s thrilling win during SRH vs RCB:

RCB ends their campaign with yet another defeat:

5Royal Challengers Bangalore end their campaign with a 5-match losing streak which began with the defeat against Chennai Super Kings on 25th October. RCB lost all those five matches while defending a target only. In fact, each of RCB’s last eight matches ended with the side batting second winning by a margin of five and more wickets.

Holder’s all-round show:

6Jason Holder became only the 6th player in IPL history to score 20+ runs and also pick 3+ wickets in a playoff/knockout match. Holder had figures of 3/25 and scored an unbeaten 25 during the SRH vs RCB match. Shane Watson (RR vs DD in 2008 SF1), Yusuf Pathan (RR vs CSK in 2008 Final), Kieron Pollard (MI vs RCB in 2010 SF1), Dwayne Bravo (CSK vs MI in 2015 Q1) and Rashid Khan (SRH vs KKR in 2018 Q2) are the other players with this double.

De Villiers fights out alone:

3AB de Villiers became only the 3rd player to score a fifty and also affected three or more dismissals during an IPL knockout/playoff match. Parthiv Patel scored an unbeaten 51 against KXIP during the 2nd semi-final of the 2008 edition after claiming three catches. MS Dhoni achieved this double in the 2012 season Eliminator against MI where he took three after scoring exactly 51*.

26 – The three catches taken by AB de Villiers during SRH vs RCB has put him on the top of the list of most dismissals in the IPL for RCB as wicketkeeper. The South African went past Parthiv Patel who has 23 dismissals as a keeper for the Bangalore franchise in the league.

ABD’s brisk knock on a tricky pitch:

130.23 – AB de Villiers’ strike rate of 130.23 during his 43-ball 56 is his 3rd lowest during a 50+ score in the IPL. He had a strike rate of 125 during his 40-ball 50 against RR in 2009 and 126.67 strike rate during his 57 off 45 against RR in 2015.

The fifty during SRH vs RCB by ABD is only the 3rd of his 41 fifty-plus scores in the IPL where he failed to hit a six. He did not hit a six during his 52 against KXIP in 2012 and during his 53 against RR in 2018.

End of Kohli’s intent less tournament:

1Virat Kohli, with his returns during the IPL 2020, became the first player in Men’s T20 cricket with boundary runs % less than 40 (33.9) and boundary shots % less than 10 (8.85) during a tournament with 400+ runs.

Among the players with 400+ runs in a major T20 tournament (Men/Women), only Alex Blackwell (in WBBL 2015-16) recorded lower boundary runs % or boundary shots % than Virat in IPL 2020.

Finch @ 2000 runs:

2005 – Aaron Finch completed 2000 runs in the IPL when he went past his individual score of 27 during SRH vs RCB. Finch has scored those 2000 runs for eight different IPL teams and not even 700 runs for any franchise.
