Delhi Capitals (DC) continued their dream run in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season on Saturday. They won their seventh game defeating the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in a thriller of a game. It went down the last over despite Shikhar Dhawan scoring a century. However, Axar Patel made light work of it in the end smashing 21* off just five balls helping the team chase 180 runs with two balls to spare.

The Capitals needed 17 runs off last six balls thanks to a sensational penultimate over from Sam Curran where he conceded only four. However, to everyone’s surprise, MS Dhoni went with Ravindra Jadeja, the left-arm spinner, to defend the total in the last over. Both the left-handed batsmen were in the middle in Dhawan and Axar and the latter smacked the bowler out of the park at will to win the game for his team.

This decision from MS Dhoni has left the Jamaican sprinter Yohan Blake furious as he thought Dwayne Bravo was the best option to bowl the final over. He stated that this was the worst captaincy decision from the CSK skipper and questioned Dhoni for giving the ball to the left-arm spinner when two left-handers were batting. “I think Dhoni made the worst decision in a long while. That’s a poor decision to bowl Jadeja at the last part. We had Bravo. Really?” he said in a video.

However, MS Dhoni clarified in the post-match presentation that Dwayne Bravo wasn’t fit to bowl and not on the field. “Bravo was not fit, he went out and was really not able to come back. That was the reason we had to bowl (Jadeja). The option was either Karn and Jaddu so I went ahead with Jaddu. Maybe not enough,” the CSK skipper. With limited options available, Dhoni had no option but to go with the experienced Jadeja and it didn’t pay off.
