Jofra Archer’s bowling prowess has rattled several batters, not only in the 2020 Indian Premier League (IPL) but also in other domestic tournaments and at the highest level as well. Even in the game against the Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, he castled Quinton de Kock, who smashed him for a colossal six in the same over.

But Archer is also safe as houses when it comes to fielding. The England cricketer has bucket-like hands and he hardly allows blemishes on the field. At the third man region, Archer plucked a ball out of thin air to dismiss Ishan Kishan. The latter was going great guns, scoring 37 runs off 36 balls with four fours and one six. Needless to say, Kishan was finding the middle of the bat.

The Royals had to get rid of him to stem the run-flow. In the 11th over, young fast bowler Kartik Tyagi got rid of the big fish. But it was more of Archer’s wicket than Tyagi’s simply because of the effort the Englishman put in. Tyagi churned out a wide delivery and Kishan went for the uppercut, hoping for the ball to sail over the ropes. But Archer had other ideas.

Jofra took a couple of steps in, but then jumped upwards to grasp the leather with one hand. The difficulty level of the catch was so high that Archer’s teammates were left awestruck. It was an important wicket for the Royals as Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav, who scored 40 off 26 with four fours and a six, had put on a partnership of 83 runs off 59 balls.

Seeing Archer’s stupendous efforts, the netizens couldn’t stop heaping praises on the Barbados-born. The catch drew a lot of praises from the users on Twitter. If the catch of the season has to be picked, Archer’s efforts must go down as one of the contenders if not the winner. The Royals need such inspirational performances as they are languishing at the bottom of the points table.
