Delhi Capitals (DC) have been going from strength to strength in the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The team, led by Shreyas Iyer, have won five out of their first six matches and are sitting pretty on top of the points table.

In their previous game, they got past Steve Smith’s Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 46 runs in Sharjah after stumbling, somewhat, in their batting innings. The Capitals are next scheduled to lock horns with the Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

The match will be the second of Sunday’s doubleheader. MI won’t be an easy prospect as the Rohit Sharma-led unit have also been on a rampage, winning four of their six matches. For DC, it remains to be seen if they make any changes to their combo from the last game.

Here is the Predicted Playing XI for the Delhi Capitals for MI vs DC game:

Openers (Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw)

Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw should remain as the openers despite the latter’s indifferent form. The left-handed Shikhar only has 132 runs at an average of 22. His strike-rate of 122.22 hasn’t helped the Capitals either.

The southpaw needs to break the shackles and play some big shots. Shaw, on the other hand, has looked much fluent. With 198 runs at a strike-rate of 151.14, the youngster has found the middle of the bat more often than not.

In the last game, he got 19 off 10 balls and looked good. The Capitals would be hoping for the right-hander to continue his good form.

Middle-order (Shreyas Iyer (C), Rishabh Pant (WK), Shimron Hetmyer)

Shreyas Iyer is currently the leading run-scorer for the Capitals in the tournament. The DC captain has 203 runs at an average and strike-rate of 40.60 and 140.97 respectively. But he seemed to have lost a bit of rhythm in the last two games, but it shouldn’t be concerning keeping in mind his talent.

Rishabh Pant has gotten a number of 30s and 40s and has looked good. Though he couldn’t score much last time around, DC would be pinning hopes on him for a blistering knock.

Shimron Hetmyer showed his brute force, scoring 45 last time around and he will want to carry forward the decent form.

All-rounders (Marcus Stoinis, Harshal Patel, Axar Patel)

In the all-rounder’s category, Marcus Stoinis can be called as DC’s standout performer. He has 162 runs at a strike-rate of 176.08. Moreover, he has five wickets to his name, including a couple in the last match.

Axar Patel has been phenomenal to say the least and has been very hard to pounce on. The left-arm spinner has five wickets at a stupendous economy of 4.50. In the last game, he also showed his utility with the bat in hand, taking Andrew Tye to the cleaners.

Harshal Patel has three wickets to show for his efforts, though at a high economy, and he is not mug with the bat either.

Bowlers (Ravichandran Ashwin, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje)

Kagiso Rabada has simply been unstoppable thus far with the ball in hand. The speedster is currently the Purple Cap holder with as many as 15 wickets. Albeit he was expensive against RR, he still managed to get three wickets.

The South Africa pacer is again expected to be a force to reckon with. His Proteas’ teammate Anrich Nortje has eight wickets to his name and has played the supporting role to perfection.

Ravi Ashwin must be brimming with confidence after he got the Player of the Match award last time around. The off-break bowler has five wickets at an economy rate of 6.90.
