Kolkata Knight Riders claimed two crucial points thanks to a super over victory against the Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday. As many as five players among KKR’s top six scored at least 23 runs helping them to reach 163/5 in 20 overs. SRH sent up Kane Williamson due to fitness issues which helped them to smash 58 runs in the powerplay. Lockie Ferguson claimed three wickets in the middle overs to put the pressure on the Sunrisers. An unbeaten 33-ball 48 by David Warner took the game in the super over where Ferguson knocked stumps twice in three balls to seal a win for KKR.

Here are all the statistical highlights from Kolkata Knight Riders’ super over win during SRH vs KKR:

KKR win a super over finally:

1Kolkata Knight Riders have won a super over for the first time in the IPL. They ended up losing all the three super overs they were part of previously – vs RR in 2009, vs RR in 2014 and vs DC in 2019. Sunrisers Hyderabad, on the other hand, lost two of the three super overs they were part of in the IPL.

Warner’s poor run in super overs continue:

1.25 – David Warner has a batting average of 1.25 during the super overs in the Twenty20 format. Warner scored five runs before getting out during the super over against Pakistan in 2012 T20I but bagged ducks against New Zealand in 2010 T20I and against RCB in 2013 IPL before the Sunday’s SRH vs KKR game; all of them resulting in his team’s defeats. However, Warner did not get to face a ball during the 2011 CLT20 super over against Trinidad & Tobago which his team New South Wales won by five runs.

Russell’s slowest IPL knock:

81.82Andre Russell’s batting strike rate of 81.82 during his 9 off 11 balls in SRH vs KKR is now his slowest inning in the IPL of 10 or more balls. Russell had a strike rate of 90 during his 10-ball 9 against MI in the 2018 IPL game in Wankhede. These two are the only IPL innings of Russell where he had a strike rate below 100 even after facing 10+ balls.

Warner @ 5000:

1David Warner became the first overseas player to aggregate 5000 runs in the IPL and overall just the 4th player to achieve the milestone. Warner needed only 135 innings to reach the milestone; the fastest among the four players. Virat Kohli was the previous fastest to 5000 IPL runs taking 157 innings to get there.

Milestones for KKR bowlers:

52 – Lockie Ferguson completed 50 wickets in the Twenty20 format when he dismissed his Manish Pandey; the 3rd and last wicket he picked during SRH vs KKR.

100Pat Cummins reached 100 wickets in his 91-match Twenty20 career with the wicket of Vijay Shankar. Cummins failed to pick even one wicket in any of his previous five matches in the tournament.

Warner drops down the order:

2014 – The last instance of David Warner not opening in the IPL was during the 2014 IPL while playing under Daren Sammy for the Sunrisers Hyderabad. The SRH vs KKR was the first time since the start of 2015 edition where Warner did not open the innings for the Sunrisers in the IPL.

2 – The SRH vs KKR game was the 2nd instance in the IPL where Warner batted in the 20th over of a chase. He scored an unbeaten 93 off 58 for the SRH during their successful last over chase in the 2016 Qualifier match against Gujarat Lions.
