Rajasthan Royals have put their foot on the accelerator at the perfect time. They have won two consecutive must-win games and all their strengths are coming together quite well. Ben Stokes and Robin Uthappa have provided them with a solid start and their bowling has stepped up for the challenge as well.
They will be facing Kolkata Knight Riders in their next encounter and it is an absolute shoot-out for the playoffs. However, other results can still hamper their chances but if they win this contest they will give themselves the best chance of making the next round.
However, the venue this time is Dubai and Steve Smith’s Royals would hope for their spinners and middle order to step up on a potentially slow surface.
Here’s the Predicted XI of Rajasthan Royals for the Match 54, KKR vs RR:
Openers (Ben Stokes and Robin Uthappa)
Ben Stokes is in excellent form and he has won them two consecutive games on his own. He can bowl four overs for his team as well and that gives RR the perfect balance. Robin Uthappa has got good starts but he would want to play a big knock for his team in this important fixture. As the game is at Dubai, the pitch might provide some grip to the spinner and it won’t be easy to bat on like Abu Dhabi.
Middle overs (Sanju Samson, Steve Smith, Jos Buttler and Riyan Parag)
Sanju Samson is back in the form and his two valuable knocks should have given immense confidence to RR. He is a good player of pace and his strength will be tested against the quality of Lockie Ferguson and Pat Cummins.
Steve Smith played a promising role against KXIP and he has established himself perfectly in the middle order. Jos Buttler will be donning the role of a finisher.
The stumper has looked quite comfortable in his new role and he should continue with the same. The management has shown confidence in Riyan Parag as he has shown promise of playing an important knock if required by his team.
All-rounders (Rahul Tewatia and Jofra Archer)
Rahul Tewatia is their power hitter lower down the order. He has shown excellent credentials with the bat and has provided four overs consistently. As the pitch can get slower, his wrist spin can be extremely vital. Jofra Archer is in tremendous form and his role will be to provide them early wickets against KKR’s unpredictable top order.
Bowlers (Shreyas Gopal, Varun Aaron and Kartik Tyagi)
Shreyas Gopal is their front-line spinner and his role is to provide wickets in the middle overs. However, as KKR have three left-handers in their batting order, Steve Smith needs to make an effort to bowl his overs accurately.
Varun Aaron and Kartik Tyagi will complete their bowling attack with their hit-the-deck bowling. The Indian pacers have been a matter of concern for RR and they would be expected to perform better in the last game of the league stage.
