Chennai Super Kings succumbed to their 2nd consecutive defeat in IPL 2020 as they lost to Delhi Capitals by 44 runs; their biggest-ever defeat in the hands of the Delhi franchise. Prithvi Shaw’s 43-ball 64 helped DC get a great start with help of a 94-run opening stand with Shikhar Dhawan (35). Rishabh Pant scored an unbeaten 25-ball 37 as Delhi finished with 175/3. The Chennai Super Kings never looked comfortable in the chase and eventually got away with only 131/7 in the restricted 20 overs.

Here are all the statistical highlights from Delhi Capitals’ biggest win in the IPL against CSK:

CSK’s worst start:

3 – The IPL 2020 is only the 3rd IPL season where the Chennai Super Kings lost two of their first three matches. CSK had only one win after their first three matches of an IPL edition in 2009, 2012 and now in 2020.

Rabada breaks Malinga’s record:

9 – Kagiso Rabada now has picked up at least two wickets in each of his last nine IPL matches; the longest such streak for any player in the league. He went past Lasith Malinga’s streak of eight successive matches with two or more wickets during the 2012 edition of the IPL.

Chawla surpasses Mishra:

255 – Piyush Chawla is now the leading wicket-taker among Indians in the history of Twenty20 format surpassing Amit Mishra’s tally of 253 wickets. Both Chawla and Mishra were part of Friday’s match and began with 253 wickets apiece in T20s. However, Chawla picked a couple of wickets while Mishra went wicketless.

Milestones for Faf and Watto:

67 – Faf du Plessis completed 2000 runs in IPL career during this match. He got there in 67 innings which are the fewest for any South African and overall the 6th fastest to the milestone.

1004 – Shane Watson got past 1000 runs in the IPL for the Chennai Super Kings on Friday. He has already scored 2372 IPL runs for Rajasthan Royals. Rohit Sharma, Jacques Kallis, Gautam Gambhir, David Warner and Yusuf Pathan are some other players who scored 1000+ IPL runs for two franchises.

A big stand by the Delhi openers:

94 – The 94-run stand between Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan is now the 3rd highest partnership for the Delhi franchise against the Chennai Super Kings. Gautam Gambhir first put on 115 runs for the first wicket with Virender Sehwag during the away fixture in 2008 season and later, shared a 121-run stand for the 3rd wicket with Shikhar Dhawan during the home fixture in the same season.

Watson falls to Axar again:

6 – Shane Watson now has been dismissed by Axar Patel on six occasions in the IPL; the joint-most times any bowler has claimed the wicket of Watson in the league. Amit Mishra also got rid of Watson on six instances in the IPL.
