The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) managed to win their opening game of the IPL be beating the Mumbai Indians (MI). They chased down 163 in the last over with five wickets in hand thanks to Ambati Rayudu (71) and Faf du Plessis (58*) who helped the team recover from 6/2. However, things didn’t seem to be too good as it ended when CSK were on the field after opting to bowl first.

Apart from a poor start in the match, their fielding was under the scanner. Rather both the sides were rusty in the field. But a youngster like Deepak Chahar making a mistake and conceding four runs didn’t really please his skipper MS Dhoni who was clear is showing his disappointment.

The incident took place in the 19th over of the innings when James Pattinson swatted the third ball of the over to deep mid-wicket. Chahar was stationed at the position and had to move to his right to gather the ball. He did it but couldn’t get hold of the ball in a hurry to save a run and instead ended up conceding a boundary.

With MI seven wickets down, these runs turned out to be bonus for them and for the same reason, MS Dhoni wasn’t happy with the fielder. Soon after the mistake, the cameras turned to him and he was seen nodding his head in disappointment.

CSK bowlers pull back things well

After a poor start in the powerplay, the CSK bowler kept picking up wickets at the regular intervals to keep a lid on the scoring rate. It all started with MS Dhoni introducing Piyush Chawla in the powerplay who nipped out the MI skipper Rohit Sharma and the likes of Deepak Chahar and Lungi Ngidi also picked wickets in their respective second spells.

All of the CSK bowlers were amongst the wickets which helped them to restrict the defending champions. Although it was an above par score, the duo of Faf du Plessis and Rayudu made batting look easy as they eventually got off the mark in the league with a win.
