IPL 2020: Qualifier 2, DC vs SRH – Statistical Preview

Sunrisers Hyderabad stands one step away from qualifying to the final thanks to the winning streak they caught up two weeks ago. Sunrisers won only three of their first nine matches but winning five of the next six games have put them in the 2nd qualifier against the Delhi Capitals. The Delhi team have been quite opposite to Sunrisers as they won just one of their last six games without which they would have played the first qualifier against Mumbai Indians.

Here are the key stats and numbers ahead of the crucial 2nd qualifier between DC and SRH on Sunday:

0 – Delhi Capitals/Daredevils are yet to qualify for a final in any T20 tournament have played thus far. They have featured in a qualifier/semi-final on seven instances across IPL and CLT20 only to lose in each of them. Till date, the Delhi Capitals have won only one knockout/playoff match which was the Eliminator in 2019 against the Sunrisers Hyderabad.


2-0Sunrisers Hyderabad has made it to the final both the teams where they played the 2nd Qualifier in an IPL edition. They made it to the final in 2016 coming after winning the Eliminator and also in 2018 after losing the 1st Qualifier.


3 – David Warner has been dismissed by Ravichandran Ashwin on three occasions across nine innings in the IPL. However, Warner managed to score 92 runs off 82 balls he faced in the bowling Ravi Ashwin in the league thus far.


4Shikhar Dhawan has been dismissed for a duck on four instances in the IPL 2020 thus far which are the joint-most by any player in an edition of IPL. Herschelle Gibbs (DC in 2009), Mithun Manhas (PWI in 2011) and Manish Pandey (PWI in 2012) are the other players with four ducks in an IPL season.

Dhawan also holds the record for the most number of ducks by a player in the IPL playoffs/knockouts as he has four ducks in such matches.


7.6 – Rashid Khan has got a bowling average of 7.6 against the Delhi Capitals in the IPL since the start of 2019. Across five IPL games against the Delhi team in this period, Rashid took ten wickets with help of two 3-wicket hauls. The leg-spinner has got an economy rate of 3.8 in those five matches.


25Kagiso Rabada needs one more wicket to set a new record for the most number of wickets picked by a player for Delhi franchise in an IPL edition. Rabada himself picked 25 wickets in the 2019 edition as well while Morne Morkel also claimed 25 wickets during the 2012 edition.

Rabada has gone wicketless in three of his previous four matches after spending 25 consecutive IPL matches with at least one wicket.


63.9Manish Pandey has got a strike rate of 63.9 in the IPL while facing Axar Patel; the lowest for Manish against any bowler in the league history (Min: 20 balls faced). Manish faced 61 balls in the bowling of Axar across 11 IPL innings and managed to score only 39 runs with help of two fours and got out on two occasions.


248 – Number of wickets for Ravichandran Ashwin in his 245-match career in the Twenty20 format. Ashwin needs two more wickets to become the 3rd Indian to reach 250 T20 wickets after Piyush Chawla (257) and Amit Mishra (256).
