After many delays, the much-awaited IPL 2020 is slated to start from September 19th in the UAE. At a time when the sport was at a halt amid coronavirus pandemic, the BCCI identified the Gulf nation as a viable option to stage the tournament.

The T20 extravaganza is finally ready to roll after a week, with defending champions Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings slated to lock horns in the season-opener. To increase the excitement and multiply the engagement ahead of the event, Twitter has launched a set of new emojis.

These special team emojis can be activated by hashtags

After COVID-19 hiatus, Indian cricket is ready to kick-off with the premier domestic competition– IPL. However, fans will have no choice but to enjoy the tournament through their television sets owing to the pandemic. With the audiences at home this year, Twitter has come up with an innovative idea to enhance the experience of fans.

IPL fans can use this new set of team emojis to be part of the IPL team conversations. These special team emojis can be activated by hashtags in English and six Indian languages. Here are a few hashtags that will unlock the team emojis: #OneFamily, #WhistlePodu, #PlayBold, #KorboLorboJeetbo, #SaddaPunjab, #OrangeArmy, #HallaBol, and #YehHaiNayiDilli.

Through these emojis, Twitter is expected to be flooded with messages and support from fans. Moreover, the fans will also be able to follow and participate in live conversations.

The cash-rich league will unfold in the UAE across three venues –Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah. Dubai will play host to 24 games, 20 matches will be hosted by Abu Dhabi while Sharjah will hold 12 games of this year’s IPL.

Meanwhile, several overseas stars have touched base with their teams after completing Caribbean Premier League engagements. After leading Trinbago Knight Riders to victory in the final against St Lucia Zouks, Kieron Pollard has also joined Mumbai Indians camp in Abu Dhabi. Along with Pollard, West Indian Sherfane Rutherford has also joined the MI squad. All franchises are currently sweating it out in training sessions in order to start their IPL 2020 campaign on a positive note.
