In the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Delhi Capitals (DC) have been suffering way too much due to injuries to players. Star spinner, Ravi Ashwin, remained out of the eleven owing to a shoulder injury, and then Amit Mishra was ruled out of IPL due to a hand injury. The latter addition to the injury-list is of star wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant who is undergoing treatment for grade one hamstring tear.

Pant has already missed out on two games with the Capitals and is trying his best to break into the team for their big match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Saturday. Ahead of their previous match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Dubai, Pant came up on the field for a short fitness test.

IPL’s official Twitter handle shared the clip of his fitness test, where he was seen alongside DC physio Patrick Farhart and another staff member. Delhi’s young man was seen completing a lap while the staff members had an eye on his timing. The wicket-keeper was comparatively slow on the field as he struggled due to his injury.

However, what caught huge attention was the fact that Pant got highly trolled in the comments section of the same video clip. People body-shamed him for his bulky body-type. People took no time to use words like “Mota” and “petu” for him, and some advised him to reduce his belly and get fit.

Here are some tweets body-shaming Pant:

It has not been the first time when cricketers have been trolled for their body weight and fitness. Even at the start of the tournament, fans heavily trolled Rohit Sharma and Saurabh Tiwary for their hefty look on the field. Talking about Pant, he has been an integral part of Delhi’s batting lineup and is known for playing attacking cricket. Pant has featured in six games so far with the Capitals in this season of IPL.

He has amassed 176 runs in these matches at an average of over 36 and has maintained the strike-rate of more than 133.33. Ajinkya Rahane has turned up to fill in his shoes, but the young man is expected to mark his return soon.
