Royal Challengers Bangalore back in 2013 was a batting heavy side. But with AB de Villiers out of this crucial clash against Mumbai, they were feeling a little bit of pressure. Chris Gayle, who was ever so consistent for RCB during this golden phase, scored an unbeaten fighting 92 runs off 59 balls. Apart from that knock, the only significant contribution had come from Kohli who scored 24 runs from 14 balls.

RCB somehow managed to put up a score of 156 for 5 from their 20 overs. Mumbai’s run chase started off with captain Ricky Ponting and Sachin Tendulkar. However, midway through the innings, Mumbai found themselves in a desperate situation looking for re-building. With 88 for 3 from 13.4 overs, Dinesh Karthik got together with Ambati Rayudu.

The pair put on a stand of 60 runs dragging the match till the last over. Vinay Kumar dismissed both the batsmen in successive deliveries propelling RCB to a two-run win at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Kumar ended three scalps and so did Jasprit Bumrah of Mumbai. Interestingly, this game was the IPL debut of Bumrah, who also dismissed his future national captain, Kohli.
