The Delhi Capitals (DC) had a sensational campaign last year. For the first time, they managed to reach the finals of the IPL. Although they failed to beat MI, they had done a tremendous job to reach the finals. During the initial phase of the tournament, they were consistent and merciless. However, they lost touch during the latter half of the event.

This time, Shreyas Iyer will be unavailable for DC. To take up his role, the management has decided to give a young Rishabh Pant a chance. This adds more excitement to the tournament as Pant is well known for his unorthodoxy. And with a young and inspired squad, DC might be the force to reckon with.

In 2020, DC had the second-best batting lineup. And this year too, they have a strong playing eleven in their ranks. For youngsters like Prithvi Shaw, it will be a chance to redeem themselves. But, unfortunately, some players might not get chances regularly in IPL 2021.

Let us have a look at 3 players from the DC squad who might be benched for most of the season:

1. Vishnu Vinod

This year, DC have Vishnu Vinod as the backup wicketkeeper for the Delhi Capitals. He made his first-class debut in 2016 for his state side Kerala. For those who have not heard his name, Vishnu is also an aggressive batsman. Because of his impressive performances in the interstate T20 competitions, and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he rose through the ranks.

Vishnu can hit sixes at will, a rare talent as most of the batsmen fail to clear the fence when required. Thus, if an Indian batsman fails to perform consistently, Pant has a backup. Although Vishnu has scored only 19 runs in three matches, his stats will get better when he gets more chances.

With a strong batting lineup, the Capitals are well-settled. And there is no scope for other players to get into the playing eleven. Maybe, head coach Ricky Ponting will ask Vishnu to bat if Delhi manage to get into the playoffs sooner. But, for a batsman of Vishnu’s caliber, he has to wait for the time being.
