In the 29 matches played of IPL 2021, the bowlers ruled the show in most of the games and worked their charm with the leather. Former Indian batsman Aakash Chopra picked top six bowling performances delivered by the bowlers thus far. RCB was experiencing a dream ride in IPL 2021 and a lot of credit for the same goes to seamer Harshal Patel.

Harshal was a revelation for the Bangalore outfit as he was a proud owner of Purple Cap with 17 wickets from seven games. Aakash Chopra picked Harshal’s dream spell of 5 for 27 in the first match of IPL 2021 between RCB and Mumbai Indians as the best bowling performance of the league. Harshal became the first bowler to take a five-wicket haul against the defending champions.

“At No.1 is my favorite bowling performance of the season so far, I have picked Harshal Patel. It came in the first match against Mumbai (5/27). You have a four-over spell and there if you take five wickets, that too while coming at the end. He bowled very good slower ones and perfect yorkers,” said Chopra in a video uploaded on his YouTube channel.

For the second spot, Chopra chose Harpreet Brar’s match-winning spell of three for 19 in the game between PBKS and RCB. Harpreet was on a roll in that game as he scalped the wickets of Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, and Glenn Maxwell to drive RCB to victory.

Chahar bothers also feature in the list by Aakash Chopra

The third post in the list was occupied by Deepak Chahar for his brilliant performance against Punjab Kings. Deepak gave away just 13 runs in his four overs while picking four wickets including Mayank Agarwal, Chris Gayle, and Nicholas Pooran. Chahar’s exploits helped CSK in stopping Punjab at a mere total of 106 runs.

Aakash Chopra picked Chris Morris’s four-wicket haul against the Kolkata Knight Riders as the fourth-best bowling performance while he chose Andre Russell’s spell of 5 for 15 against Mumbai Indians on the fifth slot. Russell’s performance came in a losing cause as Mumbai managed to win the match in the last over.

Mumbai managed to win the game while the bowling second as the performance by Russell was overshadowed by Rahul Chahar. Rahul is the second spinner to feature in the elite list by Aakash Chopra as he dismissed KKR’s top-four batters to help his side win a low-scoring affair.
