The second leg of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to commence on September 19 in the UAE. The overseas player availability was a huge question for the franchises but the BCCI made sure to solve it by communicating with the boards. While there was never a problem of West Indies and New Zealand cricketers, it was England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) who had cleared that they won’t send the players.

However, after the postponement of England’s tour of Bangladesh, even ECB softened its stance and Cricket Australia (CA) has reportedly left it to the players to decide whether to take part in the tournament or not. Earlier on Tuesday, it was reported that some of the Australian players have confirmed their availability but there was uncertainty around David Warner returning to play.

The former Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper, however, has indirectly confirmed now that he will be travelling to the UAE to don the Orange jersey and play in the IPL. In his latest Instagram post, Warner posted his picture in the SRH jersey while raising his bat and captioned it as, “I’ll be back….” It remains to be seen if the southpaw confirms his availability officially or this post has already indicated the same.

A not so good IPL 2021 for David Warner

David Warner didn’t have a decent IPL 2021 when it was played earlier this year in India. Before the tournament got suspended due to COVID-19 cases within a few team bubbles, Warner was axed as the captain and was dropped from the team with the in-form Kane Williamson taking over the mantle of the side. SRH faced a problem of too many quality overseas players and not being in his best form, Warner had to make way.

Going by the numbers, he had done the best job for his team. David Warner had scored 193 runs in six matches with two half-centuries but his strike rate of 110.28 is what was not looking good. He even hit only 15 fours and six sixes and now will be looking to make a strong comeback in the second leg to help his team make it to the playoffs.
