The twenty-second match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is currently in progress at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. Winning the toss, the Capitals’ skipper Rishabh Pant opted to field, suggesting that the wicket is dry and that the team would want to make use of the dew later.

On a Head-to-Head count in the history of IPL of these two sides, the Royal Challengers Bangalore is the superior side, having won 14 to Delhi Capitals’ 10 in the two teams’ 25 meetings, with one being no result. However, former India cricketer, coach, and the CricTracker expert Lalchand Rajput reckons that the Rishabh Pant-led Delhi Capitals will be able to take an edge over Virat Kohli and his men in this encounter and will record their fifth win of the season.

DC has brilliant batting depth: Lalchand Rajput

Speaking at CricTracker’s live show ‘In The Air’, Rajput said he would want to go with the chasing team. He felt that the fresh surface can do some unexpected things, which Delhi can counter as they are chasing. “I would like to go with Delhi Capitals tonight. This is a new venue, and only one match has taken place. This is a fresh pitch and no one knows how it will behave. So DC has an advantage as they will see the opponents play and will have a target to go with,” he said.

He mentioned the form of Shikhar Dhawan, the Orange Cap holder, and even appreciated the batting depth of the Capitals. “They have Shikhar Dhawan in form. He has got Prithvi Shaw alongside him as the opener, and then DC have finishers like Marcus Stoinis and Rishabh Pant.”

“It will be always better to know the target, and with such a deep batting order, it will be easy for Delhi. Even though anything is possible in cricket, I think chasers have an edge and it will be difficult for Royal Challengers Bangalore to set a target. No one really knows what will be a ‘safe target’ on a new pitch”, concluded Rajput.
