IPL 2021: List of players with base price of INR 1.5 crore in the auction

All eyes are on the upcoming auction for Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. The much-awaited event will take place on February 18 in Chennai as the cricketing world eagerly waits for yet another exciting day. Ever since the inception of the IPL, the auction has been an integral part of India’s cricket calendar. All the auctions have been as thrilling and as exciting as any match on the field and hopes are high for the upcoming auction too.

In this year’s auction, a total of 292 players will be going under the hammer. Originally, 1,114 players had registered themselves for the event before the list was pruned after all the franchises submitted their shortlists. Out of those 292 players, 164 are from India, 125 from overseas Test-playing nations, and 3 from Associate nations.

Among the 292 players, a maximum of only 61 is going to get IPL contracts. Kings XI Punjab go into the auction with the highest available purse of Rs 53.2 crore for the nine vacant slots while Royal Challengers Bangalore need the most number of players (11) to complete their squad. RCB had retained only 12 players (and traded two) from its current pool. Sunrisers Hyderabad, on the other hand, needs the least number of players (3) to complete their squad.

Players with the base price of Rs 1.5 crore in the IPL 2021 auction

For the auction, the players have been divided into eight categories based on their base price. Through this article, we are taking a look at the players in the list of the second-highest base price that is Rs 1.5 crore. A total of 12 players are in this category with not a single player from India. Former South Africa speedster Morne Morkel, who previously played for Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders, has registered himself in this category.

Apart from him, six players from England – Alex Hales, Dawid Malan, Adil Rashid, Tom Curran, David Willey, and Lewis Gregory – are in this list too. Among the aforementioned players from England, only Hales, Curran and Willey have played in the IPL in the past. The other five players in this category are from Australia (4) and Afghanistan (1). Afghanistan star Mujeeb Ur Rahman has registered himself in this category after being released by Kings XI Punjab.
