Chennai Super Kings have won a thriller against Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2021 clash played at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. They posted a mammoth total of 220/3 after they were asked to bat first. Opener Faf du Plessis played a brilliant knock of 95 runs off 60 balls for them which included 9 fours and 4 sixes. He added 115 runs for the opening wicket with Ruturaj Gaikwad who also smashed a fifty.

Chasing this total, KKR had lost 5 wickets for only 31 runs which diminished their hopes of a win. However, Andre Russell, Pat Cummins and Dinesh Karthik played explosive knocks to keep the match alive till the end. KKR were all out for 202 runs in 19.1 overs losing the game by 18 runs. Deepak Chahar picked up 4 wickets for 29 runs in his 4 overs.
