Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) were mesmerizing while playing their first match at the Wankhede Cricket Stadium in Mumbai against Rajasthan Royals (RR) as they registered a convincing victory by 10 wickets. With the win, the Bangalore outfit remains the only unbeatable side in IPL 2021 thus far.

Entering the contest, skipper Virat Kohli won the toss and invited Sanju Samson & Men to put the total on the board first. Before the match, there were many questions regarding how the RCB bowlers will adapt to the fast and flat pitch of Wankhede Stadium after playing their three matches on the slow and sluggish surface of the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chenna.

However, the bowling unit gave a fitting reply to all the critics as they owned the first powerplay by scalping three wickets while giving just 32 runs. Though RR’s top-order failed to do anything substantial, the lower-order comprising Shivam Dube, Riyan Parag, and Rahul Tewatia played some stunning knocks to derive the Royals to a decent total of 177 runs in their 20 overs.

Dube emerged as the highest run-getter with 46 runs from 32 balls while Parag and Tewatia also added 25 and 40 runs respectively to the scoreboard. For RCB, Mohammed Siraj and Harsahal Patel were the picks of the bowlers as he took three wickets each.

Devdutt Padikkal and Virat Kohli produce an eye-pleasing performance

Wankhede Stadium is known as the batting paradise and RCB’s opening duo of Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal made sure to make the most out of the batting beauty. The Bangalore outfit is living a dream in IPL 2021. However, the only thing missing from the team was a stunning performance by the top-order. Kohli and Padikkal filled that loophole too as the opening duo propelled the franchise to a magical win.

The two batters came on the field with a different mood as they started hammering the ball from the very first over. Devdutt smashed boundary and sixes in the initial overs while Virat played a second fiddle. However, towards the end, Kohli also changed his gears and the two together produced an eye-pleasing performance.

It was a memorable game for Devdutt as he scored his maiden hundred. The 20-year-old played a match-winning knock of 101 runs off 52 balls. Virat was also at his fluent best as he added 72 runs in the scoreboard while facing just 47 deliveries. The two together propelled the team towards a ten-wicket victory.
