A much-needed high-scoring thriller in recent days has come in the match which is dubbed as ‘El Classico’ of IPL. With fierce hitting from Rayudu on one end and Pollard at the other end, the teams played a match worthy of the rivalry to remain in full flow.

MI won the last ball thriller as Pollard played a magnificent knock and kept pushing the team till the end. While the match stood perfectly on the expectations, there were some amazing records produced during the game.

Here’s a look at the stats from MI vs CSK IPL clash

1/56 – Jasprit Bumrah returned with his most expensive IPL figures. The last Bumrah went above 50 was back in 2015 when he got smacked for 55 runs against Delhi and 52 against RCB.

4 – The match started with Suresh Raina becoming the fourth player to feature in 200 IPL matches – after MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma, and Dinesh Karthik. Only his teammate Dhoni has a higher average than him in the 200-club.

20 – Ambati Rayudu took 20 balls to reach his fifty, which eventually isn’t even the fastest of the match. However, it is the second-fastest by a Chennai Super Kings batsman in IPL, tied with MS Dhoni. Only Suresh Raina took fewer balls to reach his fifty, which was in 16 balls against PBKS in 2014.

17 – Balls taken by Kieron Pollard to reach his fifty, which is the joint-fastest by a Mumbai Indians player in IPL. Hardik Pandya, Ishan Kishan, and Kieron Pollard also reached their fifties in 17 balls.

1 – Pollard’s fifty is now the fastest by any player against Chennai Super Kings in IPL, overtaking KL Rahul and Sanju Samson who did it in 19 balls.

219 – Target chased down by Mumbai Indians, which is now the highest target chased off the last ball in IPL. The previous highest target chased off the very last ball of the match was 216 by CSK against RCB in 2012.

2 – This is the second time Mumbai Indians defeated Chennai Super Kings by chasing a target on the very last ball of an IPL match. The other time it happened was at Mumbai in 2012, with MI chasing the 174 target then.

2012 – This is the first time since 2012 where Chennai Super Kings lost a chase off the last ball of the match. It was also against Mumbai Indians, in the match above.

1 – This is the first-ever IPL match that included two fifty-plus knocks, with both of them coming at a strike rate of over 250. Rayudu scored 72 at a strike rate of 266.6 while Pollard scored 87 at a strike rate of 255.9.

19 – This is the nineteenth time Mumbai Indians beat CSK in IPL, which is now more than double the number of times any other team beat CSK. Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals, and Royal Challengers Bangalore have all defeated them 9 times.
