The Capitals have beaten MI only once out of five matches in the UAE.

Preview

Mumbai Indians are set to lock horns with Delhi Capitals in Match No.46 of the 2021 Indian Premier League on Saturday, October 2 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah. The Capitals, led by Rishabh Pant, will be going into the game after a three-wicket to Kolkata Knight Riders at the same venue.

But they are in with a chance of becoming the second team after Chennai Super Kings to qualify for the playoffs. Moreover, Pant’s men will also want to end in the top two to get two cracks at playing in the final. MI, on the other hand, must be high on confidence after beating the Punjab Kings.

Hardik Pandya’s late blitz took them over the line in Abu Dhabi. But having not played a game at Sharjah this season, it will be interesting to see how they adjust to the conditions at the venue. Over the last couple of years, the Mumbai-based team has got the better of DC on quite a few instances.

Pitch Report

The pitch in Sharjah has been a tough one for batting. Run-making hasn’t been easy by any means. The spinners and slow bowlers are likely to make hay. Chasing should be the way forward for the team winning the toss as defending won’t be an easy task.

Probable best batter of the match

Rohit Sharma— Mumbai Indians

Rohit Sharma has been the standout batter for MI in the tournament without a shred of a doubt. The right-hander has scored 334 runs at an average of 33.40 and a strike rate of 126.99. He is also the leading run-scorer for his team. Against the Capitals, Rohit has notched 862 runs at an average of 33.15 with five half-centuries to show for his efforts.

Probable best bowler of the match

Rahul Chahar– Mumbai Indians

Rahul Chahar was exceptional when the IPL took place in India. But he has looked a tad out of sorts in the UAE leg. In 11 matches in the tournament, Chahar has picked up 13 wickets at an excellent economy rate of 7.39. In Sharjah, he’s likely to taste quite a bit of success. Against DC, Chahar has picked up five wickets from the 18 overs he has bowled.

Today’s match prediction: Mumbai Indians to win the match.
