Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have kept their playoff hopes alive by thrashing Sunrisers Hyderabad by six wickets in their latest fixture. It was indeed a comprehensive performance from KKR as SRH never really looked in the contest. After posting a paltry 115 while batting first, the Orange Army did showcase some fight. However, the two-time champions eventually crossed the line with a couple of deliveries to spare.

Earlier in the game, SRH won the toss and opted to bowl at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The decision didn’t prove to be fruitful by any means as Hyderabad lost wickets at regular intervals. Although Kane Williamson, Abdul Samad and Priyam Garg played some impressive shots, none of them could play an innings of substance.

As a result, KKR restricted them for 115/8. Although the target wasn’t massive, Kolkata’s way to glory wasn’t really smooth. In-form batters Venkatesh Iyer and Rahul Tripathi got out on single digits as SRH seemed a tad interested. However, Shubman Gill scored a valiant half-century to keep things in KKR’s grasp.

Nitish Rana and Dinesh Karthik also chipped with vital contributions as the two-time champions crossed the line in 19.1 overs. With this triumph, KKR consolidated their fourth position in the team standings. On the other hand, SRH kept reeling at the rock bottom.

Meanwhile, here are the important stats and numbers from the KKR vs SRH clash in IPL 2021:
