The IPL auction for the upcoming 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is live in action and the players and fans are going crazy with excitement. Every year a lot of young players get picked by the franchises as reserve players and they get a chance to learn under the guidance of legendary cricketers.

This year too, many young Indian players have registered themselves for the IPL auction and one among them is Kerala’s opening batsman Mohammed Azharuddeen. The batsman had hogged limelight with his scintillating knock of 137 runs against Mumbai in the just-concluded 2021 edition of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Overall, Azharuddeen featured in 5 games for Kerala amassing 214 runs at an average of 53.50 and a stunning strike-rate of 194.54.

Azharuddeen is quite excited for the IPL 2021 auction and is hoping to get picked by one of the franchises. Speaking about the upcoming event, the 26-year-old had said as quoted by Sportskeeda, “Yes, I am excited for the auctions. However, I am not thinking too much about it, as if something goes wrong, I can’t let my morale go down. If I get a contract, that will be great. Even if it doesn’t happen, it is okay. I know I have to work hard to get into IPL.”

The opening batsman revealed that he is hoping to receive potential bids from two franchises namely Mumbai Indians (MI) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) as they had recently called him for the trials. Various young Indian players are called by franchises for net practice ahead of the auctions to have a keen look on their skillset.

Though Mohammed is looking forward to playing for any IPL franchise, he has a special admiration towards Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and someday wants to play for the team due to the presence of Indian skipper Virat Kohli in RCB squad.

“I started following RCB because of Virat bhai. Playing for RCB will be the happiest thing in my life. Batting alongside Virat Bhai will be so special,” Mohammed Azharuddeen stated.
