Rajasthan Royals failed to hold their nerves in a nail-biting finish against Kings XI Punjab in their IPL 2021 season opener in Mumbai just a couple of days ago. Their next challenge will be up against the runners-up of last year, the Delhi Capitals.
Having defeated Chennai in their opening clash of the season, Delhi would be upbeat when they come head to head against Rajasthan, who are reeling from the loss of their star player, Ben Stokes. Stokes has been a match-winner for them and all the fantasy cricket fans. Despite the absence of the star all-rounder, there are some really quality players who can help you fetch fantasy points.
Here are the top 3 fantasy picks for the match between Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals
1. Sanju Samson
The Kerala wicketkeeper-batsman did all he could in Rajasthan’s opening match. He is a must-have in your fantasy teams, purely because of his record at the Wankhede Stadium. Whenever he has played on a track as flat as Wankhede, runs have come flowing for him.
It is worth noting that he scored 119 runs in the first match of Rajasthan, where the second-highest run-scorers in that match for them was 94 runs less than what Samson scored. As he bats in the top-order, there are chances for him to face more balls than anyone else, thereby increasing his chances to get a substantial score for Rajasthan.
2. Prithvi Shaw
Since coming back to form, Shaw has not put a foot wrong. He was seen in tremendous form during the Indian domestic season, in which he managed to rack up more than 800 runs in the eight matches in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021.
He started the 2021 season of the IPL with a brilliant knock of 72 runs from 38 balls, helping his side chase down a huge total of 189. Apart from this, Wankhede Stadium is his home ground and if anyone understands this pitch better than others, it has to be Prithvi Shaw. With his form, there is no doubt that he should be included in every fantasy team.
3. Marcus Stoinis
Marcus Stoinis has proved to be a go-to man for the Delhi Capitals team since his arrival ahead of the 2020 season. Last year, he scored more than 350 runs for DC at a strike rate close to 150 and then went onto take 13 scalps as well.
He was used quite intelligently by Shreyas Iyer and in his absence, captain Rishabh Pant was also seen backing the all-rounder to deliver some overs for Delhi. He scored a 9-ball 14 in the previous match and could be once again seen in the finisher’s role during Delhi’s batting effort.
