Former New Zealand cricketer Scott Styris, on Friday, predicted the positions of all the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the end of the league stage. He reckoned Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad would make it to the playoffs and also raised a few eyebrows by keeping Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the 8th position.

Styris, interestingly, also felt Rajasthan Royals will somehow make it to the sixth place and it will be another season where they won’t make it to the playoffs. Moreover, he also stated that the Men in Pink will be at sixth place only if Chris Morris manages to stay fit for the whole season and Jofra Archer recovers from injury soon. The England pacer, as of now, is set to miss at least the first four matches of the team.

The official Twitter handle of Rajasthan Royals (RR) came across the tweet and their response has left the fans in splits. They quoted Styris’ tweet and responded to him with actor Nana Patekar’s meme from the blockbuster Welcome movie reading, “Control Uday… Control.:

Styris and RR were involved in a funny banter before IPL 2020 too

Even before the IPL 2020, Scott Styris had predicted the positions of all teams. Then, he had put Rajasthan Royals at the eighth place and the franchise had taken a friendly dig at him saying they are casually saving the tweet. Styris had then come up with a reply saying that he would love to be proved wrong.

However, as it transpired, the Royals were the wooden spooners last season with six wins from 14 matches. Chennai and Punjab also won six matches but RR’s net run-rate was worse. The franchise has named a new captain for this season in Sanju Samson after releasing Steve Smith post the poor IPL 2020. RR will be hoping that they prove Styris wrong this time around and make it to the playoffs of the tournament.
