Riyan Parag came to the limelight last year in the IPL when he played a few important knocks for Rajasthan Royals. Interestingly, after helping his team chase down a tricky total and winning a thriller of a match against Sunrisers Hyderabad last year, he was seen doing a celebration like never seen before. He performed some steps of the Bihu dance. Ahead of the IPL 2021, he revealed whom he would want to perform this dance form with.

Bihu is a folk dance that has its origin in Assam, the state in the Eastern part of India, where Parag’s hometown is located. During an interaction on the Rajasthan Royals’ YouTube channel, the young batsman was seen answering a few questions from the fans. In one of the questions, he was asked who he wants to see doing Bihu.

To this question, the 19-year-old took Indian captain Virat Kohli’s name. Having seen his previous posts, it is quite evident that he is a huge fan of Kohli. “Yeah, I want to make Virat Kohli do Bihu,” Parag said. His dance after the successful run chase against Sunrisers Hyderabad had gone viral on social media.

My role model has always been Virat Kohli: Riyan Parag

While answering another question during the interaction, the young player was heard praising Kohli once again. He expressed that Kohli has been a role model for him. “My role model has always been Virat Kohli. I admire him as a player of course, but even more as a human being. So, it’s Virat Kohli,” he said.

While answering the question of the shot he would like to learn from a particular player, Parag named his role model along with a teammate of his from the Rajasthan Royals. “Can I name two? Okay, I’ll name two. One, the Virat Kohli cover drive. And two, the Jos Buttler scoop. Those two shots I really want to learn. But I know I can’t, so it’s cool,” Parag replied.

Apart from the knock of unbeaten 42, during which he and Rahul Tewatia guided their side to a victory against SRH, the young batter didn’t a get a lot of opportunities. However, with the IPL coming, Parag will hope that he can perform his iconic Bihu steps a few more times on the ground.
