Jasprit Bumrah has become one of the best fast-bowlers in the world in the past couple of years. His bowling action is as iconic as his skills with the ball. On Thursday, Rajasthan Royals uploaded a video in which their leg-spinner Shreyas Gopal was seen imitating Bumrah’s action. He also imitated Ravichandran Ashwin and Harbhajan Singh’s bowling actions.

Bumrah has a sling-arm action, which is difficult for batsmen to pick. With his unique bowling action, Bumrah has been able to confuse a lot of batters and also take their wickets. He is playing for the Mumbai Indians currently in the IPL 2021.

Coming back to Shreyas Gopal’s video, the footage was shot at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai, where Rajasthan Royals are having their camp for the IPL 2021. During a session, Gopal first tried to imitate Bumrah’s action and did it quite well. Further, he tried to copy Ravichandran Ashwin’s bowling action. It should be noted that Gopal is a leg-spinner, unlike Ashwin, who is an off-spinner.

Gopal played for MI between 2014 & 2017 with Bumrah and Harbhajan

Gopal then imitated Harbhajan Singh’s action. The Karnataka all-rounder nailed the action of the veteran off-spinner quite well. Towards the end of the video, talking about Bumrah’s imitation, Gopal said, “I have shown it to Jasprit (Bumrah), and he said that I imitate him better than he does it himself.”

Shreyas Gopal started his IPL journey with the Mumbai Indians in 2014. He spent four seasons with them, before moving to Rajasthan Royals in 2018. He shared the dressing with Bumrah and Harbhajan during his stint with the five-time champions.

Here’s the video:

Gopal has been one of the regular players to feature in the Rajasthan Royals. In the 2019 and 2020 seasons, he played all their 14 matches while before that, he had played 11 matches in the 2018 season. Altogether he has taken 48 wickets from 46 matches in the IPL. The Karnataka player has played only one game so far in the 2021 edition where he was smashed for 40 runs in his three overs.
