Due to the sudden scare of COVID, the Indian Premier League 2021 match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore on Monday, May 3 has been postponed until further notice. The information comes after two Kolkata teams players, Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier were tested positive with COVID.

The two players have been kept in isolation but due to the sudden emergence of the virus within the KKR bubble, the match had to be postponed. There was speculation regarding the fact that KKR’s next match against Delhi Capitals can also be postponed, which is scheduled for May 8. However, a senior official of the Board of Control for Cricket in Indian (BCCI) has informed that no further matches will see postponement.

The problem with scheduling the match between Bangalore and Kolkata is how the schedule has been made. After the Ahmedabad leg, the next round of matches will be played in Kolkata and Bangalore. RCB will play all their matches in Kolkata while KKR will travel to Bangalore. Kolkata’s match against Delhi on May 8, is going to be the last match in Ahmedabad. Hence, it becomes crucial that the clash between RCB and KKR is scheduled before they move to their next destination.

BCCI yet to announced the rescheduled date for KKR vs RCB match

Amidst this, a senior journalist reported on Twitter that she has received information from a senior BCCI official who has revealed that no other matches will be postponed. On top of that, it was also reported that the official said that players who are getting tested every day don’t need to be isolated.

“Just spoke to a BCCI official, he says no other match has to be rescheduled as of now. Also said that if the players are being tested daily there is no need for isolation for the players who may have come in contact with a positive person,” the tweet from the journalist read.

There is no update or official statement by the BCCI on when and where the match between KKR and RCB will take place. It was initially reported that Gujarat Cricket Association will inform about the rescheduled match, which sort of iterates that the match will be scheduled while the teams are stationed in Ahmedabad.
