Wasim Jaffer has been bowling over fans on the internet with his recent social media posts. He has posted memes several times, out of which at times, we have seen him uploading posts that were made by him only. Ahead of the IPL 2021 match between Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals, he uploaded another post in which he made a reference to the infamous incident of Ravichandran Ashwin mankading Jos Buttler.

Wasim Jaffer is involved in the coaching staff of Punjab Kings for the IPL 2021. He has been the batting consultant of the franchise since the 2020 season. Kings started their season with a close victory against Rajasthan Royals, winning by four runs in a last-ball thriller. However, after their match against Punjab, Rajasthan’s next challenge will be against Delhi.

In the post which was uploaded by Jaffer, he had uploaded a screenshot from the famous Indian movie, ‘Lagaan’ which is based on cricket. In the movie, a group of villagers in India back in the late 1800s decided to play a cricket match with their British oppressors, in order to evade taxes. During that match in the movie, a young player was mankaded by a British bowler.

Ashwin and Buttler to lock horns

After posting the image of the scene, Jaffer wrote in his caption, “Watchout for these two tonight #RRvsDC #IPL2021.” The caption was in reference to an incident that had happened when Ashwin used to play for Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings). In the 2019 season, he was leading Punjab against Rajasthan when the latter was chasing down a target quite easily.

Ashwin ran Buttler out at the non-striker’s end, and the momentum shifted towards the Punjab team and they eventually won that match. Even though what Ashwin did was perfectly fine by the laws, a lot of people had criticized his move, saying that it was not in the spirit of the game. Now, Ashwin has moved to Delhi Capitals and this time he will once again face Buttler, who might be a little careful at the non-striker’s end when the off-spinner comes to bowl.
