Continuing his sensational run, Yuzvendra Chahal bowled a spectacular spell against Punjab Kings. The veteran leg-spinner brilliantly utilized the Sharjah track and made the ball talk. He, in total, took three wickets in the game as RCB defended 164 against PBKS’ daunting batting line-up. This triumph also sealed RCB’s place in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 playoffs.

While Chahal bowled several deceptive deliveries in the game, his vicious leg-break to dismiss Sarfaraz Khan stood head and shoulders above all. It was the 16th over of Punjab’s innings and Sarfaraz was gearing up to face his first delivery. With the required run rate climbing upwards constantly, the young dasher was expected to play big shows. Unfortunately for PBKS, he lasted for just one delivery.

Chahal bowled a good length delivery which was pitched on the leg stump. In order to sneak a run on the leg side, Sarfaraz closed the face of his bat. However, little did he know, the ball turned sharply and hit the top of the off-stump. While the right-handed batter was left bamboozled, RCB fielders celebrated in delight.

This wicket tightened RCB’s grip over the match and PBKS couldn’t do much. The KL Rahul-led side was eventually restricted for 158/6, losing the contest by six runs. While RCB are through to the next stage, PBKS’ hopes of qualifying for playoffs are all but over.

Notably, Chahal had a point to prove in the UAE leg of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. After all, he was shockingly omitted from India’s squad for the T20 World Cup 2021. Nevertheless, he proved his mettle once again by spinning his web in UAE. In five matches after the season resumption, Chahal has taken as many as 10 wickers and RCB would be delighted.

Coming back to the game, the likes of Devdutt Padikkal and Glenn Maxwell also made a mark besides Chahal. While the dashing opener scored a well-paced 40, Maxwell slammed his third consecutive half-century of the season. The Australian star was even named the Player of the Match for his spectacular show. Meanwhile, RCB’s next assignment is against Sunrisers Hyderabad on October 6.
