On March 28, the two debutants, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Gujarat Titans (GT), clashed in Match four of the IPL 2022 edition, resulting in the Titans taking home two points by maintaining their cool and sealing the game with equally good performances with both bat and ball.

LSG had a few positives and negatives to take from their first game of the tournament. After the back-to-back wickets of KL Rahul, Quinton de Kock, and Evin Lewis, the likes of Deepak Hooda and Ayush Badoni produced impressive knocks to steer the team to a fighting total of 158.

In the bowling unit, the Sri Lankan fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera was effective to take early wickets, while Krunal Pandya also delivered a fine performance. But the other bowlers were not potent enough to defend the score. The team will be missing the services of their key overseas players like Jason Holder, Kyle Mayers, and Marcus Stoinis in the second fixture as well.  Henceforth, the coaching staff, along with the captain, are expected to make a few changes to get their first win in the tournament.

3 changes LSG should make to get back to winning ways in IPL 2022

In the first fixture, captain KL Rahul and wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock opened the innings but were dismissed early. In place of this combination, the team management can choose to bring West Indies batter Evin Lewis to the opening slot with Quinton de Kock.

In his 22 matches in the IPL, Lewis has opened on 18 occasions and has hammered 533 runs at a strike rate of 144.44. Incidentally, Lewis has been the opener for the West Indies T20I team in all his 49 appearances.

In the previous edition, Lewis was fairly successful in providing Rajasthan Royals some terrific starts and finished with 151 runs in five matches. With his experience and form to make full use of fielding restrictions, Lewis can replace KL Rahul as the other opener.
