Well, the IPL 2022 season has now reached its paramount stage. So far all the group-stage games have been settled resulting in a robust qualification of four teams (RR, GT, LSG & RCB). However, the heavyweights of the tournament- MI, CSK & DC have all disappointingly failed to reach the playoffs.

But amidst all the 70 matches that have happened, many franchises had made blunders with regards to their best playing XI. Often in their process of trial and error, various franchises snubbed certain players who deserved a longer rope. Tragically, only at the fag end of the season, these players have received a re-entry into the team.

Therefore in this list, let’s check out these 5 players who were unlucky to be dropped

1. Tim David

Tim David has been the biggest talk of the 2022 season for MI. The cricketer, while ending the tournament, has proven all his worth to the Mumbai management. Even before joining the IPL, David had a prolific PSL record and was expected to play all IPL 2022 games. However, his slight initial two failures surprisingly benched him for the first half of the season.

Particularly, after MI’s second encounter against RR, the management replaced David with Dewald Brevis. The SA youngster in response had a decent debut season scoring 161 runs from 7 games. Initially, Brevis had unveiled himself explosively but the 18-year old lacked scoring big and closing games.

Comprehensively, the herculean David’s reappearance only occurred when Mumbai lost their first 8 matches. As the franchise was officially eliminated from the playoffs, MI again decided to retest the 26-year old.

Perhaps by casting him a bit late, David in response has smashed 186 runs from 8 games at a towering strike rate of 216.18. More importantly, by giving new vitality to the team, David singlehandedly won two games against RR and DC. Overall, interestingly after David’s comeback, MI has also finished with 4 wins out of their last six games. Surely in the next IPL season, the big hitter will play as a vital cog of the franchise.
