IPL 2022: CSK's Deepak Chahar and KKR's Rasikh Salam ruled out of the tournament

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have been dealt with a telling blow as their most expensive pace bowler Deepak Chahar has been ruled out of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season. He was recovering from an injury sustained during the T20I series in India earlier this year and was expected to join the four-time champions soon. However, Chahar, on his road to recovery, sustained a back injury which effectively ruled him out of the tournament.

Meanwhile, KKR have also lost their pacer Rasikh Salam for the rest of the tournament. The young pacer featured in two matches for the 2014 champions but is suffering from a lower back injury that has cut short his IPL season. The franchise has signed Harshit Rana as the replacement for Salam for the rest of the season. He will join the team at his base price of INR 20 lakh.

CSK, on the other hand, have not named any replacement for Deepak Chahar as of now and it remains to be seen whom do they sign in place of the all-rounder.

Meanwhile, CSK are in big trouble now as they were hoping for Deepak Chahar to come back and make an impact. They have bought the all-rounder for a whopping amount of INR 14 crore in the mega auction. They can only sign an Indian player as Chahar’s replacement now as there is no place for a foreign player to come in according to squad formation rules.

On the other hand, KKR are also struggling with an Indian pacer currently and Rasikh Salam had impressed in the two matches with his pace and line and length. But his injury must have left them with a hole in their line-up and the franchise might look for Shivam Mavi to deliver yet again. He got a chance earlier in the season but was dropped after underwhelming returns.
