IPL 2022: Top gainers and losers considering previous year's salary cap

The IPL 2022 mega auction came to an end finally after two days of intense bidding wars among the franchises and it has to be said, that we are all up for a massive action-packed ten-team tournament this year. The inclusion of two new teams has added some more spice into the equation and the demand for Indian players went up by a mile. While many wondered what went wrong with the unsold players, there were some surprising picks as well.

In terms of the highest pay cuts in IPL 2022, Krishnappa Gowtham stands at first as he was paid 9.25 Crores in the previous season by Chennai Super Kings and he was picked up for just 90 Lakhs in the mega auction this year with a decrease percentage of 90.28. Karn Sharma followed him from being paid 5 Crores in the previous season by CSK to 50 lakh by RCB with a decrease percentage of 90.

Priyam Garg has been bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for 20 lakh after being paid 1.9 Crores in the previous edition with a decrease percentage of 89.48. Tymal Mills from England, who was bought for 12 Crores in his previous stint in IPL by RCB in 2017, settled down to 1.5 Crore this time around by Mumbai Indians for a decrease percentage of 87.50. Riley Meredith stands fifth in the list having been paid 8 Crores by Punjab Kings in the previous edition and has now moved into the Mumbai Indians setup for just 1 Crore with a decrease percentage of 87.50.

Harshal Patel tops the chart for the highest gainers as he was bought for a whopping 10.75 Crores in IPL 2022 by his former franchise RCB from paying him 20 lakh in the previous edition with an increase in the percentage of 5275. Prasidh Krishna stands next with the tall seamer getting bagged up by the Rajasthan Royals for 10 Crores and he was being paid just the 20 lakh last time by the KKR side to make an increase in the percentage of 4900.

Tim David had an astounding increase rate of 4025 as he was picked by the Mumbai Indians for 8.25 Crores in IPL 2022 after being paid 20 lakh by RCB last year. Karnataka lad Devdutt Padikkal, who was paid 20 lakh in the previous edition by RCB  was bagged by RR for a whopping 7.75 Crores, an increase rate of 3775 percent. Sri Lankan all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga is at the fifth position in the highest gainer with an increase percent of 2050 as he was bought back by RCB for 10.75 Crores to paying him 50 lakh in the last season.
