Jasprit Bumrah could not resist smiling looking at franchises going all-out for fast bowlers in the IPL 2022 mega auction in Bengaluru. The fast bowlers’ category was one of the most sought-after ones in the day as the franchises were all set to make huge bids for the pacers to strengthen their squads. Over the years, teams with strong bowling attacks have gone to be very successful and it has been one of the reasons behind the demand for the quicks.

As many as ten capped fast bowlers went into the bidding process in the set, and only one fast bowler in the form of Umesh Yadav went unsold in the category. Deepak Chahar was the most expensive bowler in the set as he was bagged for a whopping amount of INR 14 crore by his former franchise Chennai Super Kings. Shardul Thakur was the second most expensive bowler in the set with INR 10.75 crores being splashed on him by the Delhi Capitals.

Prasidh Krishna and Lockie Ferguson were picked up for INR 10 crores each by Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans respectively, while Josh Hazlewood (INR 7.75 crore to RCB) and Mark Wood (INR 7.5 crore to LSG) earned big money as well. Sunrisers Hyderabad brought back seamers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and T Natarajan for INR 4.2 crore and INR4 crores respectively, while Mustafizur Rahman was the last fast bowler to be sold in the set to the Delhi Capitals for his base price of INR 2 crore.
