Liam Livingstone finally announced himself in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as the England international clobbered 60 runs off just 32 deliveries with five fours and five towering sixes to help Punjab Kings (PBKS) in posting a competitive total of 180/8. He backed up his solid batting performance with the bowling as well as he took two wickets to win the match for his team by 54 runs in match 11 of IPL 2022 against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai.

Speaking about how the match went by, skipper Ravindra Jadeja won the toss as CSK opted to field first. They made one change with Chris Jordan replacing Tushar Deshpande. PBKS brought in Jitesh Sharma and Vaibhav Arora in place of Raj Bawa and Harpreet Brar. Captain Mayank Agarwal scored just four runs while Bhanuka Rajapaksa, unfortunately, got run-out for nine runs.

Shikhar Dhawan was then joined by the aggressive Liam Livingstone in the middle. Dhawan amassed 33 runs but the English player Livingstone stole the show and scored a brutal half-century. Wicketkeeper batter Jitesh Sharma mustered 26 runs off just 17 balls with three sixes.

In the run chase, Gaikwad’s poor form extended as he managed just one run. CSK’s top order got blown away as they found themselves in big trouble at 36/5. Shivam Dube then smashed a fighting half-century as he amassed 57 runs off 30 deliveries. MS Dhoni scored 23 runs but PBKS bowlers were at the top of their game.

Rahul Chahar and Vaibhav Arora bowled brilliant spells of 3/25 and 2/21 respectively as CSK lost their third consecutive match of the campaign. For his all-round show, Liam Livingstone was adjudged the Player of the Match.
