IPL 2022, Match 48 GT vs PBKS, Stats Preview: Players records and approaching milestones

Gujarat Titans and Punjab Kings will be facing each other in the 48th match of IPL 2022, to be played at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. While Gujarat Titans are playing their inaugural season, Punjab Kings finished sixth in their last IPL season. So far in this season, GT have a fabulous record of eight wins and one loss, while PBKS have four wins and five losses. Gujarat Titans have played thrice at DY Patil Stadium this season, winning two and losing one. Punjab Kings have played twice at DY Patil Stadium this season, winning once and losing once. Incidentally, both the teams suffered their only loss at the ground against SRH. When both teams faced each other earlier in the season, Gujarat Titans won by six wickets.

Gujarat Titans had opening issues for the first half of the season, but the pair of Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill came back strong with fifty-plus stands in the last two matches. With Hardik Pandya, David Miller, and Rahul Tewatia performing well, they have all the firepower in the middle. Pradeep Sangwan, returning after four years in the IPL, had bowled brilliantly in his last outing against RCB and recorded figures of 2/19 in four overs.

Punjab Kings have openers Mayank Agarwal and Shikhar Dhawan in shaky form. Though Jonny Bairstow hasn’t produced any decent knock so far, the other overseas batters Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Liam Livingstone have been brilliant this season. Kagiso Rabada and Rahul Chahar have been their best bowlers of the season. Mayank Agarwal will hope his team start winning matches before it’s too late for them going into the business end of the tournament.

4 – Hardik Pandya needs four more wickets to reach 50 wickets in the IPL. He will become the fifth Indian player to 1000+ runs and 50+ wickets in the IPL with the other four being Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Irfan Pathan and his brother Krunal Pandya.

6 – Rashid Khan needs six more wickets to reach 450 wickets in T20 cricket, and become the second spinner to do it in the format, after Imran Tahir. He will become the youngest and fastest to the milestone.

8 – Gujarat Titans have won eight out of nine matches so far. They are the only team to win at least 8 out of first 9 matches in an IPL season.

17 – Jonny Bairstow needs to score 17 runs to reach 4000 runs in T20 cricket.

22 – Mayank Agarwal needs 22 more runs to reach 1500 runs for Punjab Kings in the IPL. He will become the fourth player to do it, with the other three players being KL Rahul, Shaun Marsh and David Miller.

7 – Shubman Gill (43) needs seven sixes to reach 50 maximums in the IPL.

4 – Vijay Shankar (46) needs four fours to reach 50 fours in the IPL.

4 – Jonny Bairstow (46) requires four sixes to complete 50 maximums in the league.

4 – Alzarri Joseph (46) is four scalps away from reaching 50 wickets in T20 cricket.

4 – Rahul Chahar (96) requires four scalps to get to 100 wickets in the T20 games.
