IPL 2022: Match 55 – Predicted Delhi Capitals Playing XI vs Chennai Super Kings

Strong-looking Delhi Capitals (DC) will take on the defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their next group stage encounter of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. The match will be played at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai on May 8 (Sunday).

To note, the Capitals won their previous encounter against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). DC managed to beat the Orange Army by a comfortable margin of 21 runs and they will look to continue their good performance against the Yellow Army as well.

The Capitals are currently placed fifth in the points table with five wins in five matches and will look to win their remaining matches in the current edition to qualify for the play-offs. Talking about the changes, opening batter Prithvi Shaw might make a comeback in the playing XI.

Here’s a look at the Delhi Capitals’ predicted playing XI against Chennai Super Kings:

Openers: Prithvi Shaw and David Warner

Left-handed batter David Warner wreaked havoc against his previous franchise SRH in the last match. The pocket dynamite scored 92 runs in just 58 balls and was also adjudged player of the match for his excellent knock. He will look to emulate his performance with the bat again.

On the other hand, Mandeep Singh did not manage to open his account against the Orange Army. Meanwhile, the regular opening batter Prithvi Shaw is expected to make a comeback in the playing XI against the defending champions and he will look to score quickly during the field restrictions.

Middle Order: Rishabh Pant (c & wk), Rovman Powell, Mitchell Marsh

The captain and wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant has accumulated 260 runs in ten innings. The left-handed batter played a decent knock of 26 runs in the previous match and would look to play with more responsibility in the upcoming matches. Meanwhile, Australian batter Mitchell Marsh has struggled to score runs in the tournament and would want to play a good knock against the defending champions.

After failing to score runs in the initial matches, West Indies batter Rovman Powell is showing his true potential. The right-handed batter had amassed 67 runs in just 35 balls and was a key scorer for DC to get them past the 200-run mark in the last match. He will look to emulate his performance in the upcoming match.

All-rounders: Lalit Yadav, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur

The right-handed batter Lalit Yadav has scored 137 runs in seven innings and has taken four wickets with the ball as well. Meanwhile, Axar Patel who missed the last game against SRH is also expected to make a comeback. So far, Axar Patel has contributed 145 runs at an average of 48.33 and has picked up four wickets.

Indian all-rounder, Shardul Thakur has been a silent performer for the Capitals. Shardul did not get a chance to bat in the previous game. However, he scalped two crucial wickets of Nicholas Pooran and Shashank Singh. The all-rounder will look to replicate his performance in the upcoming match against his ex franchise Chennai Super Kings.

Bowlers: Kuldeep Yadav, Anrich Nortje and Khaleel Ahmed

Left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav has been in excellent form in IPL 2022. The 27-year-old has scalped 18 wickets in ten matches and would wish to continue his good form with the ball. Kuldeep has bowled some excellent spells in the tournament so far and would like to keep up his momentum ahead as well.

In the last match, express Pacer Anrich Nortje managed to scalp one crucial wicket of skipper Kane Williamson but was a little expensive in his bowling. The right-arm pacer will look to perform well against the defending champions as well. Similarly, Khaleel Ahmed scalped three big wickets in the previous match and would wish to continue his good outing with the ball against the Super Kings as well.
