Jos Buttler continued his solid form against Mumbai Indians (MI) in the league as he slammed a century against them to register a second consecutive victory for Rajasthan Royals (RR) in IPL 2022. The England international scored 100 runs off 68 balls, which included 11 fours and five sixes, while Yuzvendra Chahal also bowled superbly for his spell of 2/26 in fours overs. MI, who are known for their slow start to life in an IPL campaign, have now lost two games this season.

Skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to field first as they kept the same team from the last game. RR made just one change with Navdeep Saini coming in for Nathan Coulter-Nile. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Devdutt Padikkal both bagged single-digit scores but Buttler continued to score runs. Captain Sanju Samson and Shimron Hetmyer scored 30 and 35 runs respectively as Buttler recorded his second century in the IPL. RR posted 193/8 with Jasprit Bumrah the pick of the bowlers for MI as he took 3/17 in his four overs.

In the chase, Rohit and Anmolpreet Singh didn’t trouble the scorers much as they amassed ten and five runs respectively. Ishan Kishan extended his glorious form in the league as he slammed his fourth consecutive half-century. Tilak Varma was the highlight as he scored 61 runs off just 33 deliveries with the help of three fours and five sixes. He also became the youngest MI player to score a fifty in the IPL. The experienced trio of Trent Boult, R Ashwin, and Chahal bowled brilliantly to restrict MI subsequently winning the match for RR. For his spectacular ton, Jos Buttler was declared the Player of the Match.
