Just like their biggest counterpart, even the yellow army has poorly performed. The defending champions surprisingly have also endured a leadership struggle. Their two retained marquee all-rounders (Jadeja & Moeen Ali) have been the biggest flops so far. Both the southpaws have averaged under 20 along with a combined tally of just 11 wickets.

Distressfully, even the young Ruturaj Gaikwad has been a late bloomer. In his first initial games, Gaikwad could barely put his bat on the ball. Fortunately now in his last 5 appearances, the batter has averaged above 40. Overall, the 25-year-old has in total amassed 313 runs in the ongoing season.

All in all, for CSK, their captain MSD has been the brightest spark in the season. The 40-year-old gloveman has scored 199 runs at an average of almost 40. Disappointingly, this season will also be the second occasion wherein CSK won’t play in the playoffs.
