IPL 2022: Ravi Ashwin stuns RR teammate Yashasvi Jaiswal in a game of chess

Rajasthan Royals (RR) veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was seen dominating young batter Yashasvi Jaiswal in a game of chess on May 3 (Tuesday). The official Instagram account of RR uploaded a video where it can be seen that the senior off-spinner had Jaiswal in all sorts of trouble in a round of chess. As a result, Ashwin was seen giving some tips to the young batter to overcome the difficult situation.

It must be noted that RR have one of the most intelligent chess players in the form of Yuzvendra Chahal. However, the spinner was not seen in the video. During the 28-second video, it looked like Ashwin was winning an easy contest as both players can also be seen talking to each other in the hotel lobby.

It must be noted that both Ashwin and Jaiswal have not had an excellent season so far. While Ashwin has scalped eight wickets in ten matches and has played some decent knocks with the bat, the left-handed batter was dropped from the playing XI after playing just three games and was replaced by another left-handed batter Devdutt Padikkal, who has blown hot and cold.

To note, Rajasthan are currently placed third in the points table.  The Royals lost their previous encounter against the two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by a margin of seven wickets. RR will next take on the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in their next group stage encounter to be played at the iconic Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on May 7 (Saturday).

For RR, Opening batter Jos Buttler, Shimron Hetmyer, and Yuzvendra Chahal have been doing well. Skipper Sanju Samson has also made some decent contributions with the bat. However, he has not been able to perform consistently. During the IPL 2022 mega auction, RR made some bold decisions and picked some fresh faces. Under the leadership of Samson, RR will want to qualify for the playoffs this time.
