After a demoralizing 61-run defeat at the hands of Rajasthan Royals in their campaign opener, Sunrisers Hyderabad would be hoping to make a strong comeback when they face Lucknow Super Giants in their next IPL 2022 encounter at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai on April 4.

As SRH look forward to scoring their first two points this season, they have made an official announcement just a day before their next game. The Orange Army had made some important buys at the two-day auction in February, and one of those new recruits has arrived to be a part of the team’s campaign. That player is New Zealand cricketer Glenn Phillips.

Glenn Phillips joins the SRH squad ahead of the next match

Taking to the micro-blogging site, the 2016 champions posted a video of Glenn Phillips making it to the SRH squad just in time, before their important clash against LSG. In the video, the 25-year-old can be seen enjoying a game of table tennis.

“Hey SunRisers fans, it’s really good to be here with the SunRisers team this year. I am really excited to get there with the guys and entertain you all”, said Phillips.

“Obviously a little bit of a setback missing the first game and unfortunately had to quarantine here for a little while,  but we’re here and ready to go”, he added.

Glenn Phillips is available for selection in SRH’s next game and if all is well, the New Zealander could find a place in the playing XI of the 2016 winners. The South Africa-born cricketer was roped in for his base price of INR 1.50 crore at the IPL 2022 mega auction.  He has arrived late but has completed his mandatory quarantine.

Earlier, Phillips on his Instagram story had informed that he was still in his home country New Zealand where he was stuck due to a positive PCR travel test. It now remains to be seen which of the overseas players will be replaced, should the emerging cricketer get a chance in the playing XI.
