IPL 2022: Team-wise one young player who looks certain to serve the franchise for long duration

Well, this IPL season has truly been a playground for many young stars. Almost every franchise in the league has unearthed young cricketers who are in for a long journey. In fact for the esteemed teams- MI and CSK, their young pool of players have been the biggest positive in IPL 2022.

Even for the top three ranked teams (GT, RR and LSG), their young guns have repeatedly bailed them out or have helped them cross the line. Overall, as a majority of the retained players have flopped in IPL 2022, the dependency on these neophytes has inevitably grown.

Therefore in this article, let’s check out team-wise one young player who now looks certain to serve the franchise for more than 5 years.

1. MI – Tilak Varma

After the IPL 2022 mega auction, MI has got many youngsters in their squad. Out of all of them, the likes of Dewald Brevis and Tilak Varma were estimated to make their IPL debuts. But after MI’s horrific ongoing season, Tilak Varma in particular has unleashed his full potential.

So far the 19-year old lad has scored the most runs for MI. From his 13 games, the southpaw has amassed 376 runs at an average of almost 38. More importantly against spin, Tilak has scored the most runs in IPL 2022 (189) and has only been dismissed once.

Perhaps in a true sense, the youngster has also been the only silver lining amongst all MI batters. Often in the middle-order, Tilak has solely exhibited some composure during Mumbai’s batting innings. Also more importantly, in his gameplay, the cricketer has both orthodox and innovative shots in his armour.

Overall for Mumbai, Tilak Varma certainly looks like a megastar in the making. Probably after the Pandya brothers, he could be the next big thing for the blue and gold army.
